Intuitive Tuesday -- The Hanging Man (Reversed)

Every Tuesday I select one card and give you my interpretation of it. See how it applies to your life. What messages are here for you?

As I shuffled the cards to select this week's Intuitive Tuesday tarot card, I said, "Tell me what messages I need to bring to my readers this week."  I selected The Hanging Man (reversed) from the Gateway to the Divine Tarot deck by Ciro Marchetti.

I have covered The Hanging Man is its upright position. Click here to check it out. Some key phrases from that post include:
The Hanging Man card encourages you to suspend activity and look at your life and various situations in your life from an entirely new perspective. Turn things upside down and see what's there for you from this new perspective.
When reversed (selected in its upside-down position), the meaning of The Hanging Man (Reversed)  can become blocked or delayed. It can symbolized making a bad decision, dissatisfaction or depression...possibly feeling stuck in the status quo. You may feel as though you have only one course of action...and that feeling of being stuck or limited may lead to inaction.

If you've been facing a challenging situation, perhaps an easy way to understand the message of today's card is with an analogy.

Pretend that the situation/decision you have been facing is a large mud pit. You think that the answer you seek is in the mud pit and you are determined to find that answer.

Not immediately seeing your answer, you decide to step in, get your feet muddy and look around...but still you can't find your answer. So you go to your hands and knees, thinking that you may be able to feel the solution better with your hands. Still no answers.

After exploring your way through the entire mud pit, you now have mud up to your thighs and elbows...but still no answers. Pretty soon you are completely covered with mud, digging deeper, sloshing around in the cool, wet mud. And even though you are muddy...still no more clarity than before.

The more you dig, the more immersed in the mud you get. Now what?

When you feel stuck (in the mud), the advice of The Hanging Man (Reversed) is...to get out of the mud. Rinse and dry yourself off and find a different way to approach the situation -- EVEN (and especially)  if that means hanging around waiting for spiritual enlightenment or intuitive direction (the message of The Hanging Man).

The voice inside your head may have just said, "Don't DO anything? Are you crazy? We have to do something to solve this problem!"

The Hanging Man Reversed is here to suggest that you don't have to solve this problem right now (even though you want the peace of mind that goes with finding a solution). In fact, you may not have the right information to solve the problem or make the decision. Perhaps key pieces will unfold as you move forward...but you MUST get out of the mud pit to move forward.

The message of today's card is to quit trying so hard to solve the problem or find a solution and simply allow the answers to present themselves.

Much easier said than done, I know. How do I know? Because I am dealing with a situation just like this and I've been getting pretty messy in my mud pit.  No need for details...just know that it's frustrating and I'm tired of being in the mud!!!

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been dealing with this situation and the message I keep receiving is to:
LET GO
RELEASE
HAVE FAITH and
TRUST
In other words, quit trying so hard (i.e. thrashing around in the mud!)

Before I did my meditation this morning, I picked up the book, "Oneness," as received and transcribed by Rasha. I asked for guidance and opened the book to the page with the following words underlined (from when I previously read the book):
When one's energies are attuned to the high resonance, one is able to sense with ease the direction in which the current is moving, and one is able to be carried by the momentum of that energy and manifest outcomes that are harmonious. When one attempts to defy a situation by meeting adversity head-on, one disrupts the momentum and manifests results that are less desirable. Conflict can be circumvented simply by allowing it to pass without becoming ensnared in its grasp. (LET GO).
When your energies are at a low ebb and you are experiencing resistance, it is a time to pull inward and not to escalate adversity by directly confronting those circumstances. (RELEASE).
Non-attachment to outcome further enhances one's ability to realize an elevated result. When one's approach to living is one of trusting that the highest possible outcome will be forthcoming, that is one's experience of life.  (HAVE FAITH)
The destination is pre-determined. And your course is set. You will arrive at that destination right on schedule. It cannot be otherwise. (TRUST)
Found on pages 94-96.
I opened yet another book, The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle, and found a great passage (full of guidance and direction) that ended with the statement:
The answer, the strength, the right action or the resource will be there when you need it, not before, not after.  (page 71)

OK. I get it. The message from today's Intuitive Tuesday card, The Hanging Man (Reversed), is once again...right on.

What is your message today...and more importantly, what are you going to DO (or NOT do) about it?

Perfect Moment Monday -- Taking It (All) In

Each week I participate in Perfect Moment Monday, sponsored by the blog, WriteMindOpenHeart.com According to Lavender Luz, "Perfect Moment Monday" is about noticing a perfect moment rather than creating one. Perfect Moments can be momentous or ordinary or somewhere in between." And so, here is a Perfect Moment for this week.

One of the requirements of the graduate school that my sweet hubby will be attending, is that he will have to wear Class B uniforms or a suit to class every day. Since we live in a fairly relaxed business community, Tom said he hasn't worn a suit to work in over ten years.

So last weekend we headed off to the mall to select a couple of suits and have them altered.

There were racks and racks of suits in a variety of colors, patterns, sizes and prices.  Wow! Men's suits are expensive!!

After we determined the right size, we found the colors and styles that Tom liked and he tried them on.  When you spend this much on a suit, you want it to look and fit perfectly!

At this store, they have a platform with a multitude of angled mirrors, which makes it possible to see yourself from nearly all perspectives.

As I watched Tom step onto the platform, I noticed how very handsome he is. He looks even more handsome to me because I know that his outer good looks are simply a reflection of what a beautiful, giving soul he truly is.

At that moment, I realized three things:
  1. I am very blessed to have him as my life partner (most important).
  2. He looks extremely handsome in a suit.
  3. I was in the midst of a Perfect Moment.

Intuitive Tuesday -- Ace of Coins (Reversed) Again

Every Tuesday I select one tarot card and give you my interpretation of it. See how it applies to your life and ask, "What messages are here for me ?"

As I shuffled the cards to select this week's Intuitive Tuesday tarot card, I said, "Tell me what messages I need to bring to my readers this week."  I selected the Ace of Coins/Pentacles (reversed) from the Gateway to the Divine Tarot deck by Ciro Marchetti.

I covered this tarot card on an Intuitive Tuesday post less than two months ago. So why is it coming up again?

Because I'm facing a similar situation and need a gentle reminder about the meaning of this card.  Perhaps you are doing the same thing???

If you remember from the previous post:
The Ace of Coins/Pentacles (reversed) card could mean that your financial foundations are flawed, or possibly that you are struggling with money, etc.

If the Ace of Pentacles in its upright position is referring to a successful venture, perhaps the card is reversed because it is taking longer than you had planned to get your new enterprise off the ground.
And...just like the message in the previous post, I can try harder to make something happen (frustrating and exhausting myself), or I can allow the events to unfold and respond consciously.

I read an excerpt from Rolf Gates book, Meditations from the Mat: Daily Reflections on the Path of Yoga where he emphasized the beauty and ease of allowing things to flow:
"The mistake is believing that we can get where we are going through effort...Note your impulse to push past the point in which harmony is possible. Note what is keeping you from backing off and simply holding the posture at a point in which integrated experience is possible. Make effortlessness your aim." (page 190)
Make effortlessness your aim. That is profound....and a timely message for me.

A personal example:
Last Friday we received our housing assignment for our new home of the military post where my husband will be going to school for a year. We visited our new home town a couple of weeks ago and saw the various housing options on the post.
We stopped by the housing office and were told unofficially to expect a certain neighborhood, which we thought would be perfect, especially for our kids who are reluctant to move, even temporarily.
The housing assignment we received was NOT what we expected. In fact, it was the one place we said we would not live, mostly due to the size and condition of the houses. Yes...I realize that this is what military housing is like most of the time, but this was not what we expected...at all.
My sweet husband immediately got online to see what other options exist, and we decided that we will make the best of it, no matter what. But over the weekend, we put a LOT of effort into creating options that would work better for us.
Did you catch two key words in that last sentence? "Effort" and "Work." Neither of these words seem to go with the term flow or resonate with the phrase, "Make effortlessness your aim."

And so, with this week''s tarot card, the universe gave me a gentle reminder (from my previous post):
If you have an Ace of Pentacles (reversed) situation happening, notice it, acknowledge it, feel your feelings about it...and then, if possible, apply what you learned last time. Let it go. Breathe through it and know that the reversed energy with right itself and you will move on.

Although the Ace of Pentacles (reversed) situation may feel all-encompassing now, the tarot cards remind us that this is just one step of the cycle. Things will move forward and you will handle it.

You always have and you always will.
OK. I get it. No need to hit me with over the head with a two-by-four. The universe has my attention and I continue to learn and experience my lesson.

The message for me today (and possibly for you too): Have faith, trust...and make effortlessness your aim.

Perfect Moment Monday -- Preview of Our Year-Long Adventure

James, Bryce and Ryan waiting to board our plane home.

I mentioned in a previous post that we will be moving for the 2011-12 school year. A couple of weeks ago, the entire family flew out to our new, temporary home to check it out. It was the first step of our year-long adventure.

Our new town is a beautiful place, very green, and very different from our current, dry, more desert-like location. As we were flying in, the boys commented on how green it was, and they wondered where the stucco houses were. :)

There were mixed emotions (of course) for all of us. The boys are most worried about not being around their friends, the transition into a new school/town, etc.

Tom is curious about returning to school full time. He finished his first Master's degree over ten years ago.

Me?  I wonder if I will find the type of yoga I like to teach and practice, have questions about continuing my life coaching while I'm gone, wondering where we will live (we haven't confirmed our housing assignment yet), etc.

All very valid concerns.

Tom and the boys touring one of our nearby cities.
Yes...our new home will be different from where we live now (and where the boys have lived their entire lives), but that's part of the beauty of our year-long adventure...stepping out to try something new and different.

While we were there, we toured the high school, which was big, fairly new, and offered a great selection of academic, athletic and extra-curricular activities. We saw the town and the post where Tom will be going to school.

Sunrise on the way to the airport for an early flight home.
I met with the fitness facility director (on the post) to talk to him about teaching yoga and indoor cycling while I'm there, and also met with one of the area's well-known yoga instructors to talk to her about yoga classes, teaching opportunities, etc.

Moving feels scary and unsettled (especially for me the Taurus who loves routines and predictability), but even breaking out of that is part of the journey.

My sister, Tami, says that she likes to do one thing a year that scares her, just to keep her feeling alive. This move is my one (big) thing this year that is pushing me to the edge of my comfort zone...and I know Tom and the boys are feeling the same way.

As I saw the boys in the airport looking out the window, I was caught up in the perfectness of the moment and of this adventure we all get to take together...before they very quickly graduate and move on with their lives.

The perfectness of this journey is wrapped in anticipation and excitement, through and around all of the thoughts and feelings we have as we move forward, plunging (immersing ourselves) into the mystery of what lies ahead.

During our exploratory trip, I experienced several Perfect Moments and anticipate many more as we approach our moving date (and beyond). YIKES!!!

Intuitive Tuesday -- Moon (Reversed) and Overcoming

Every Tuesday I select one tarot card and give you my interpretation of it. See how it applies to your life and ask, "What messages are here for me ?"

As I shuffled the cards to select this week's Intuitive Tuesday tarot card, I said, "Tell me what messages I need to bring to my readers this week."  I selected The Moon from the  from the Aquarian Tarot Deck by David Palladini.

I have previously covered The Moon (reversed). Here is the heart of the meaning of The Moon (reversed):
An easy way to think about The Moon card is to imagine walking into a thick layer of fog. Beyond the fog, you believe, are the answers you seek. When The Moon is in its reversed position, the fog is lifting and you are able to see and sense the answers that have been alluding you!
Since I've previously pulled The Moon (reversed), I have selected another card from the Messages of Light cards by Mario Duguay.

These cards are so beautiful and have deep, meaningful messages accompanying the artwork. You can click here to check it out or go to your local (metaphysical) bookstore.

The additional card I selected today is, "Overcoming," which states:
I overcome my fears, my anger, my ego and all that separates me from my divinity. Through self discovery and daily effort in my spiritual quest, I cause the Light to grow in and around me. I am in the great school of life, and know that each of life's tests is necessary so that I can reign over my inner kingdom.
When I most need to tap into my intuition is when I feel a fog around me (the energy of The Moon card). This is when there doesn't seem to be an answer, even though my brain repeatedly runs through the various scenarios exploring a plethora of "what ifs?"

The message on Duguay's Overcoming card is perfect because it reminds me that my fears, anger and ego are what separate me from the Divine. What I need to remember most is to know that all is in order. Everything. Even when I can't figure it out, it is ALL in order.

I was listening to a CD series by Mike Dooley, Leveraging the Universe and Engaging the Magic. (Doesn't that sound powerful?) In it, he talks about the Law of Attraction and he said repeatedly that we don't have to figure out how. Just see the finished product and believe in the power of the universe to make it happen.

A personal example:
As I mentioned before, we are temporarily moving in July to follow my husband's National Guard career. As you might imagine, our three teenage boys are less than thrilled, some more than others. In fact, one of them is refusing to move with the family.
As we move closer and closer to the move, day-by-day, I have a sense of anxiety about how this will all work out. Did you catch that word, "HOW?"
Dooley's message about not trying to figure out the HOW is perfect for me in this situation...because at this point, I can't figure it out.
So when I find myself worrying about what to do or how things will unfold, I focus on seeing a smooth transition through our move, including my stubborn son. I see us all arriving to our destination happy, healthy, even if a bit nervous, we are all excited about our new one-year adventure.
I release my worry and fears, overcoming the anxiety that I feel...and that which separates me from my divinity. I ask the energy of The Moon (reversed) to help me to step out of my fog of unknowing and thinking that I must figure it out, and ask for intuitive guidance to help me move forward.
In what area of your life do you feel the energy of today's cards -- The Moon (reversed) and Overcoming?

Any great "refusing to move -- and it all turned out great" stories you'd like to share???

Perfect Moment Monday -- Mother's Day Pedicure

James meticulously polishing my toes after a fabulous foot rub.

Bryce rubbing my feet
prior to polishing
So this year on Mother's Day, we were coming through my home town on our way home from a weekend trip. We had been delayed several times throughout the day, but my family waited for us to celebrate Mother's Day.

Have I told you how wonderful my mother is? My sister, wrote a beautiful post about my Mom for Mother's Day, which was recently posted here. Each time I read this post, I get tears in my eyes because my Mom really is that great.

To give you an idea how fabulous my Mom is, she texted each of my teenage sons prior to our arrival to her house, to see if they would give me a Mother's Day pedicure...and they agreed!

Since I only have two feet, but three kids, Ryan helped his cousin, D, give his Aunt Tami, a foot rub and a manicure, while James and Bryce massaged my feel and polished and decorated my toes. I relaxed back in the recliner enjoying all of the special attention.
Ryan and his cousin, D, rubbing Aunt Tami's feet
prior to polishing her fingernails.

Wow! Did I feel like a princess!

At yoga last week, a couple of people wondered why the polish on my feet didn't match.  Bryce polished my left toenails mauve, while James polished my right ones light pink. But if you look closely, all of the nails have the same blue design.  When I told my fellow yogis the Mother's Day pedicure story, they would say something like, "Ahhhhhh....that sounds heavenly!"

And it was heavenly. In fact, it was SO heavenly
that it became this week's Perfect Moment Monday!

Check Out This Blog -- All Things Healing

I was recently contacted by CJ Wright, from the blog, www.allthingshealing.com, which is an online community for healing mind, body, spirit and planet.

Just the name of this blog -- All Things Healing -- invited me to check it out.

It has articles and videos on everything from yoga, spirituality, health related information...and so much more INCLUDING one of my Wild Women of the Universe posts called, "Surprisingly Intuitive," which is a story about introducing the concept of intuition to a skeptic.

If you wonder if this stuff is for real, you'll enjoy this post. You can check it out here.

CJ also authors the blog, Auntie Moon, which links tarot, numerology and astrology. Fascinating.

Being a Taurus myself and having just celebrated my birthday, I particularly liked her post called, "Twelve Things to Do While The Sun is in Taurus." I particularly liked the suggestion: "Take Voice or Singing Lessons." Wouldn't that be fun?

And just below that, was an article about making the world a better place by "throwing out the dead." Since we will be moving soon, I will be going through a much-needed and extremely overdue cleansing of everything I own. Although I don't look forward to the tasks, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My world will be less cluttered, and a lot of miscellaneous things will find new homes and new owners.

I invite you to get a cup of something warm and soothing (tea, coffee, steamed milk, etc.) and take a few minutes to check out CJ's blogs.

Intuitive Tuesday -- Page of Cups

Every Tuesday I select one tarot card and give you my interpretation of it. See how it applies to your life and ask, "What messages are here for me ?"

As I shuffled the cards to select this week's Intuitive Tuesday tarot card, I said, "Tell me what messages I need to bring to my readers this week."  I selected the Page of Cups from the Gateway to the Divine Tarot deck by Ciro Marchetti.

I have previously covered the Page of Cups. If you'd like to check it out, click here.

Some key things to know about the Page of Cups:
  • A Page is one of the Court Cards (Page, Knight, Queen and King) which can represent people in your life. If a Page represents a person, it tends to be people who are novices or less mature (either chronologically or emotionally).
  • A Page can also indicate some type of change, a message or important communications.
  • Cups is the suit of emotions, feelings, intuition, romance, relationships, creativity and imagination.
  • If the Page of Cups has to do with a characteristic in your personality, it could be a feeling of newness and excitement
A personal example:
I've not mentioned it yet on my blog, but our family is temporarily moving for the 2011-2012 school year. My husband has been appointed to the Senior Service College with his Army National Guard career, a very high honor. We will be moving our family for the entire school year.
As you might imagine, our three sons, James, Bryce and Ryan, are filled with mixed emotions. James will be in 10th grade and the twins will be entering high school. Not the easiest time to be making such a BIG change, but certainly not the worst either.
We are looking at it as an adventure.  And I have a feeling (a pretty strong intuition), that even though we are all going there with some (maybe even some of us -- mostly under 15 years of age -- have a LOT of ) reservations, that about this time next year, we will be looking back thinking, "Wow! That went by REALLY fast and it was an awesome experience).
We'll also be looking forward to returning home, with a much broader perspective and perhaps even more gratitude for our view of the world and our perspective of what "home" really means.
This past weekend, we visited our new home and now have a pretty good idea of where we are going. What I witnessed is the Page of Cups in action. First because Pages can symbolize your children; Cups symbolize feelings and emotions; and/or Pages can symbolize a type of change, newness and excitement.
This card for me is RIGHT ON for me today...in multiple ways. I am amazed, but not surprised when that happens. These cards are amazing! Or as my Tarot Tarts say when this consistently happens, "Me thinks this sh*ts for real." :)

Looking back at the bullet points above and the meanings for this card, how do you relate to the Page of Cups this week? Is it a person in your life, news, excitement, new feelings...or possibly all of the above?

Perfect Moment Monday -- Motherly Pride for My Track Athletes

Swelling with pride as I watched the boys
receive awards for Track.

My twin 14-year olds both decided to go out for track this year. Ryan participated in the 100 meter, the 4 X 200 meter, the long jump, the triple jump and discus.

Bryce originally did not go out for track, but then realized that most of his friends were busy after school...practicing for track! He participated in the hurdles, the 800 meter and the 1600 meter. They both did AWESOME!

This year Ryan was selected to be a Track Leader, one of a handful of 8th graders who take on a leadership role to help the coaches manage the over 160 athletes. Ryan stepped up as a Track Leader and organized the other athletes, led stretching exercises, and encouraged them during practices and meets. I'm sure Bryce would have been chosen as a Track Leader himself if he had gone out for track the previous year.
A Perfect (but cold) Moment sitting under my umbrella watching the
boys participate in the District Track Meet.

Track season goes really fast with only four meets, the last one being district finals. We had GREAT (sunscreen-type) weather...except for the last meet, the district finals. It rained and was windy as we huddled under umbrellas, cheering on our middle school athletes.

Still, sitting under the umbrella, after attempting to dry off my place on the cold, metal bleachers, I listened to the rain and cheered on (and whistled loudly when my boys were on the track)...and realized yet another Perfect Moment!

Intuitive Tuesday -- The Magician (Reversed)

Every Tuesday I select one tarot card and give you my interpretation of it. See how it applies to your life and ask, "What messages are here for me ?"

As I shuffled the cards to select this week's Intuitive Tuesday tarot card, I said, "Tell me what messages I need to bring to my readers this week."  I selected the The Magician (reversed) from the Gateway to the Divine Tarot deck by Ciro Marchetti.

I have previously selected the The Magician (Reversed). Here is an excerpt from that post:
In its upright position, The Magician is about using the gifts and tools you have to take charge of your life so you can create your own destiny.

When reversed (upside-down), it can mean that you are somehow blocked and not using all of your available resources, experience, wisdom, gifts or tools to move you forward. You have all of the ingredients, but haven't quite figured out how to create a delicious masterpiece.
A personal example:
Today this card really speaks to me. In an effort to unblock and share my gifts, I find myself going in a thousand directions.
I know. It's nothing new for me to be busy. With kids in middle and high school, these are some busy (and fun) times...so would I expect anything to be different? No.
I'm sure you are busy too. Almost every person I talk to expresses how busy they are. So I know it's not just me.
What I realize, however, is that each one of us creates our lives, including the PACE of our lives. And I do love to be busy (most of the time).
The appointments keep popping up in my calendar and I am running from one activity to the next, but many times I find that I'm not savoring what's happening right now.**
Many times I find that instead of living my life, I'm perpetually PLANNING to live my life. Do you find that too?
Are we so busy trying to prove that we ARE The Magician (applying our many gifts) that we make ourselves CRAZY busy trying to be everything to everyone?
What are we (am I) trying to prove by being this busy?
(**Thank goodness for Perfect Moment Monday, where each week I write about a moment when I am completely present and it's PERFECT! This helps me to return to the present moment and remember how blessed I truly am.)
The message of The Magician (Reversed) is to know that you (I) don't have to prove a thing. You are (I am) gifted with all kinds of talents...but you (I) don't have to try so hard.

If I'm trying this hard and am SO busy, what gifts might I be overlooking by not being completely here?

If you can relate to this energy, set an intention to flip The Magician back to its upright position and use your gifts wisely. You can read more about The Magician's energy here and here.

The message of The Magician (Reversed): It's up to you how hard you want to try to be great. You already are, so any additional effort you put into it is wasted energy.

Perfect Moment Monday -- A Birthday FULL of Perfect Moments!

Me blowing out the birthday candles during my
surprise birthday party at the yoga studio.
I have the BEST people in my life!

I celebrated a birthday this past week and realized that Perfect Moments can connect and last ALL day long!

On my special day, I woke up thinking that I would enjoy the morning yoga class, but soon found out that the yoga instructor that morning had a work conflict and would not be able to be to the studio on time. Instead of taking yoga, I would be teaching it.

Know that I LOVE to teach yoga, but on my birthday, I wanted the luxury of being in my own space, practicing yoga.

Literally five minutes before class was to begin, the yoga instructor I was subbing for walked in the door and said she got back early and could still teach. Hallelujah!

During Final Savasana, I tears came to my eyes as I realized how very blessed I am and feeling grateful for my health, my family, my friends, etc. Another Perfect Moment indeed!

I left the class on this emotional high to find a group of my friends gathering at the studio to wish me a Happy Birthday! My dear friends, Loralie and Tess, had invited my friends, brought the coffee, delicious coffee cake, cards, presents, a balloon, etc. and surprised me. WOW! I was very touched. More Perfect Moments!

I had two great appointments that afternoon and then got to enjoy a wonderful stretching class called Deep Openings with my hubby.  And our three sons helped each other (yes, you read that correctly -- our teenage sons worked together), so that Tom and I could go out to dinner to celebrate. Several more Perfect Moments!

Throughout the day I received several really nice phone calls and voice messages, and my Facebook was full of wonderful birthday greetings. My sister left this one that was SO very touching:
On this day, G*d gave one if his greatest gifts to the earth. Sheri, you are a gifted healer, an amazing yogi, a thoughtful friend, a dedicated wife, an ever-present mother, and a sister who has been my dearest companion on this journey of life. I'm grateful every day that you are in my life. Today just gives me reason to shout it from the mountaintops. Happy Birthday!
As I laid in bed that night, I was still smiling. I have so many great people in my life. I am very blessed.

One word: Perfect!
